The Life Force Power of the Universe
I am currently in Yoga Teacher Training and it feels like a giant affirmation project from a decade of my own seeking and learning. All of the philosophies I was interested in for the past ten years have combined into one amazing 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program. There have been so many moments where I've thought to myself, this training program is the physical manifestation of my mind. The yamas, niyamas, the chakra work, the pranayama (breath work) and neutral alignment (discipline in asana), the sadhana (learning discipline by a daily practice) and the spiritual family connections of the girls in my class - the way they are all mirrors for me in one form or another - it all just seems like it was designed specifically for me. That's the power of our connection with the Universe. When we need something, it provides. The abundance at our fingertips is incredible and we must simply put the work in, willfully, and then surrender, to watch it dance alongside us.
My whole life has felt like the chapters of a book and I've been able to witness it happening with all the tears and laughter, joy and sorrow one could muster. However, only within this training have I been truly able to let go of my need to "fix myself" and to allow prana (life force - the breath) to do the work for me. Letting go of all the limiting beliefs I've built up in my life and karmic life has been the most liberating thing I've done in my 31 years on this planet. I no longer need to be healed, because I am the healing. I no longer need to do anything different, but open myself everyday to the beauty of this life. Opening myself to something larger than me, putting talk aside, and doing the work on my mat has truly taught me more than I could ever communicate.
I have become a healer.
I have become a teacher.
I have a friend who is very logical. She has always been very special to me since meeting her, but recently I've noticed with my shifts, she has come towards this in her own life. We have ended up discussing at length the real power of yoga. Not just the postures or the fitness component of this, but about the real strength that comes from shifting ourselves at a subconscious level. It's surprising to me, because she is an Aerospace Engineer and a very logical thinker, but she's been so open to receiving the messages and she has been one of my biggest teachers throughout this journey. The other day, she gave me an opportunity to connect with her gym, to offer free classes there. This is so huge for me. This affirms that she believes in this path, which is sometimes tough for those that are very logically minded. This also gives me an opportunity to start to work with people, to hone my language and to literally step into the teachings. I am so honoured and it's got me thinking about how to reach the masses with yoga. The non-believers or the purely scientific ones. I'm a person who has spent my entire adult life thinking of how I can change the world. No matter how many Gandhi quotes I devoured about being the change, it was always true. It was inside me this whole time. Sharing this gift with those out there that have yet to experience it is my path. I'm sure of that.
So when I came across this TED talk, I was given a real gift. Here we have a neuroscientist who received an experience that gave her evidence of what I access through my yoga and meditation practice: the knowledge that we are the life-force power of the Universe. The ability to recognize that we have a choice everyday to slow down and step into our right brain, the place that connects us to all others. The understanding that we are ONE. How amazing and affirming that this indeed is the divine truth. Please watch and enjoy.
